The BMW 328 was a first-class sports car from BMW. Introduced in 1936 at the Eifel race at the Nürburgring, the sports car from Eisenach was sold from 1937. According to BMW AG, a total of 464 vehicles were sold. With a 2-liter six-cylinder engine, a lightweight body and sophisticated chassis technology, the BMW 328 provided an excellent basis for many racing cars, special conversions and modifications.
Made of wood and steel
This 328 suffered both front and rear-end damage in a rear-end collision. The vehicle is of mixed construction, with the steel outer skin nailed onto a wooden frame structure. The outer sheet metal was damaged in the accident but the wooden frame remained largely intact.
A new body shell
First, the damaged body parts were shaped back to their original state. This ensures that the subsequently installed components have a flawless fit to the bodywork and sit in the correct position. With the help of hammering forms and the power former, parts of the front and rear of the vehicle were recreated and installed. The surface was sanded before painting.
The final assembly
After painting, the vehicle came back to us. The final assembly of the vehicle was carried out in our workshop. In this step, the final touches were made to ensure that the customer received a vehicle of the highest quality.
